Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 17, 2026
ToyFlag ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use the ToyFlag mobile application.
1. Information We Collect
ToyFlag collects the following information:
- Camera images — photos you take within the app are sent to our AI service for product identification. Images are processed in real time and are not stored on our servers.
- Scan history — a record of your past scans (brand, category, recall status, timestamp) stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. This data never leaves your device.
- My Chest data — products you save to My Chest are stored locally on your device. We do not have access to this data.
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, location, or any personal identifiers. No account or registration is required to use ToyFlag.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Camera images are sent to the Anthropic Claude API to identify products and extract model numbers. Anthropic's privacy policy governs their handling of this data.
- Identified product details (brand, model, category) are used to search the CPSC SaferProducts REST API for recall information. CPSC's privacy policy governs their handling.
- All scan results are stored only on your device and used solely to display your history and My Chest.
3. Third-Party Services
ToyFlag integrates with the following third-party services:
- Anthropic Claude API — processes camera images for product identification. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
- CPSC SaferProducts API — a free, public government database operated by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. No personal data is sent to CPSC.
4. Data Storage and Security
All user data (scan history, My Chest) is stored locally on your device using React Native AsyncStorage. We do not operate servers that store your personal data. Camera images are transmitted over HTTPS and are not retained after processing.
5. Children's Privacy
ToyFlag is designed to help parents and caregivers check product safety. The app does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. The app itself does not require any user accounts or personal information from users of any age.
6. Your Rights
Since all your data is stored locally on your device, you can delete it at any time by uninstalling the app. You do not need to contact us to request deletion of your data.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of ToyFlag after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
8. Contact Us
